About the Old Barn

Ann and John purchased the Old Barn in June 2008. It was previously owned by the European School of Shiatsu and other occupants of the barn through its history have included the Marlborough branch of the Red Cross and the amateur dramatics society!

We fell in love with the barn and its peaceful location as soon as we first visited it. We were drawn to the calm and quiet of the building and its surroundings which contrast dramatically with the bustling world a stone's throw away on the High Street.

The building required redecoration and updating that involved six weeks of hard work which saw us through Wimbledon, the Marlborough Jazz Festival and more than our fair share of cold wet English summer days.

Steeped in history, Marlborough is a market town with its bustling High Street, many hidden alleyways and weekly markets. Cardinal Wolsey was ordained in St Mary’s church and legend has it that Merlin was buried in the college grounds!
